What you’ll do here
As a Plan Consultant II, you’re a senior compliance and technical resource — handling complex plan administration, supporting audits and regulatory matters, and serving as a go-to for the team. You operate with a high degree of autonomy and bring the experience to back it up.
Compliance & Testing
- Monitor deadlines and compliance obligations for your assigned book of business
- Prepare and perform annual nondiscrimination and compliance testing: ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 401(a)(4), and others as required by plan design
- Calculate employer contributions — match, pro-rata, integrated, and new comparability
- Prepare contribution summaries and projections
- Perform self-employed income calculations
- Identify and resolve late deposits and missed deferral obligations
- Calculate missed deferral corrections and support corrective filings
Data Management & Reconciliation
- Review and upload incoming census data for completeness and accuracy
- Reconcile participant contribution discrepancies
- Reconcile recordkeeper and brokerage asset statements
- Import recordkeeper transactions into compliance software
- Review work by team members to ensure consistency and accuracy
Annual Reporting & Government Filings
- Prepare government filings including Form 5500 (EZ, SF, and large plan with applicable schedules), Form 5558 extensions, Form 5330, and Form 8955-SSA
- Support IRS and DOL audits, correspondence, and communication needs
Support
- Provide technical and compliance support to internal teams and directly to clients
- Participate in consultation calls related to compliance matters, audits, and corrections
- Research and resolve advanced plan design and regulatory questions escalated by Relationship Managers or internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with actuaries and other departments to address technical issues impacting plan administration
Leadership
- Serve as a key resource, coach, and trainer for Plan Consultant I team members
- Step in for the team lead when needed, keeping operations moving and decisions sound
- Actively participate in cross-functional meetings and firm-wide initiatives
What you bring
- 3+ years of experience in qualified retirement plan administration and compliance
- In-depth knowledge of IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations
- High proficiency in compliance software such as FTW
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills — the details are where you live
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and a genuine investment in accuracy
- A collaborative mindset and a real interest in helping others develop
